Buffalo wins one, Three to go

Last night in Ottawa after being annnialated in the first threee game of the series the Sabres came out swinging at the Sens.. this might have had something to do with Lindy Rupp(their head coach) saying that if you did not contribute then you would be benched. They were up three to nothing but the Sens would not lose without a fight and they managed to make the game interesting late in the second period by caitalizing on some turnovers by Buffalo in their own zone in the last ten minutes, with  about seven minutes left in the second it was suddenly a one goal game and everything seemed to be going Ottawas way but they could not beat Ryan Miller again in the game so the Buffalo managed to hang on to a one goal lead and keep their perfect playoff record when they are leading after two periods of play. Ottawa still leads the series 3-1 though so the Sabres have a lot of hard work ahead of them.

Detroit Vs Anahiem

The Red Wings and Ducks played game three on tuesday. At the start of the game the series was tied 1-1. But Detroits Red Wings absolutely refused to go down by one game in the series because from the moment the game started Detroit dominated the Anahiem Ducks. The wings ked 2-0 after the first period and after the second period they led by a score of four to nothing… But they were not done there because before the game could end Detroit scored another goal to make the final score 5-0 for the Wings which showed that Detroit wants the Stanely Cup and is willing to do what it akes to win this series. The scorers for detroit were: Thomas Holmstrom with 2 goals, Valterri Filppula,Todd Bertuzzi and Johan Franzen. Anahiem also took another harsh blow Tuesday night with the news that defenceman Chris Pronger has been suspended for one game after he drilled Detroit forward Thomas Holmstrom into the boards. Originally Rob Neidermayer recieved a five minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct but afterwards reviewing the replay of the hit it was concluded that it had in fact been Chris Pronger who had hit Holmstrom from behind with an elbow. In an interview after the game Thomas Holmstrom said " I had two guys on me and fell into the boards, I never saw them coming from behind". Holmstrom needed stitches across his forehead but still returned to the game. A brave play.

But that was the only high point for vancouver, because close after they got caught with to many men on the ice and Anahiem made them pay by scoring on the ensueing powerplay. The game ended with a 5-1 loss for vancouver… but history was made as Andy Macdonald got his first career NHL playoff hat trick.

The Raps lose game 1 to nets

The Toronto Raptors fears happenend in the palyoffs, in the first round they have to play a red hot New Jersey Nets, who have all their Star players back. Carter was a force alongside Kidd and Jefferson in the 1st game and the raps lost because they played New Jerseys game not theirs.

Vancouver Can’t Finish Dallas

Friday night was the first chance that the Canucks had to eliminate Dallas from the playoffs but, the game would not end in regualtion and the game was still tied at 0-0 and during overtime the goal that ended the game was thanks to Brian Smolinski making a defensive break-down and therefore Dallas won the game 1-0.

Saturday was the same story Vancouver again just couldn’t quite pull out the win and therefore Dallas Stars forced a game seven that takes place Monday Night.

Did the Raptors break the long drought against the Bulls?

Last night the Toronto Raptors went up against the Chicago Bulls, a team that they had a 15 game losing streak that dated back to Dec. 6th 2002. However this would not stop the Raptors from coming out of the gate strong taking a lead early in the game. The Raptors then continued strong play throughout the first half of the game and at half-time they were leading 56-41. Throughout the third quarter both teams fought for points but at the end the Raps were leading 87-72.

Early in the fourth quarter the Raptors extended their lead thanks to Jose Calderon sinking a three-pointer, and a few seconds later he fed Chris Bosh for a basket which made it 94-86 for Toronto’s Raptors, however that didn’t stop the Bulls who fought extremely hard and with 12.8 seconds left in the game Ben Gorden of the Bulls sunk a three-pointer to give the Bulls a 1 point lead, it looked like it was over for Toronto. But the Raptors got a break when TJ Ford’s layup attempt was blocked, but Chris Bosh once again proved why he is the face of the Raptors by grabbing the rebound and then going up for a layup of his own he was fouled by Tyrus Thomas(Bulls) with 2.1 seconds left in the game and that sent Chris Bosh to the free throw line for two shots and with the game on the line he came through for the team and all its fans by sinking both free throws. That caused the Raptors to take a 112-111 lead and Ben Gorden couldn’t quite sink his last shot of the game which allowed the Raptors to  get their 28th win of the season breaking their wins from last season which was 27.

The player of the game was again Chris Bosh with 25 points, 14 rebounds and he shot 9/10 free throws.

Raptors News Update

On Friday Feb. 9th, the Toronto Raptors played the LA Lakers at the ACC in Toronto.

Both teams started slow, struggling through the first half of the game. But in the second half the Raps seemed to have shook off any rust that they might of had in the 1st and 2nd quarter, at the end of the third quarter the Raps had taken a 72-65 lead into the fourth.

During the fourth quarter Moe Peterson drained a three pointer to make it a twelve point lead, but the Lakers would not lose without a fight draing three straight three pointers to tie the game at 86 each with just over three minutes to go in the game. Then Kobe Bryant stole the ball and completed a lay-up for the Lakers first lead of the game, but a few seconds later Moe Peterson proved that he can shoot and drained a crucial three pointer to give the Raps a 91-90 lead, causing the entire crowd to come to thier feet. The Raptors then managed to hold onto the lead and simply outlast the Los Angeles Lakers.

The player of the game was Chris Bosh of Toronto, with 29 points and 11 rebounds.
